How long does my back up battery last for?
In the case of a power outage, the battery back-up will last up to approximately five hours. If your back-up battery is flat, faulty or missing, your phone and internet services will not work. You will know when it's time to replace the battery when the "Replace Battery" light appears on the nbn™ connection box. The battery’s entire life is expected to be longer than 3 years.
Where do I get a new battery?
See a list of preferred battery retailers here. The battery used in the nbn™ Power Supply Unit is a standard battery type used in many different systems. Ask your battery retailer for the following:
12V 7.0 to 7.2 Ah 6 cell SLA battery (F2 terminals)
How do I replace the battery?
Consult the nbn™ Fibre User Guide for step-by-step instructions on how to replace your battery and more information about the warning signals on your nbn™ connection box. Alternatively you will find further information around replacing your battery on nbn™’s YouTube video.
What do I do with the old battery?
Do not dispose of your used battery in your household garbage or recycling.
All used Sealed Lead Acid batteries are classified as hazardous waste- if placed in landfill, the batteries can contaminate the soil by leaching acid, lead and other pollutants into the ground water. You can recycle your used battery at a number of designated places including a specialist battery recycler, selected battery retailers, and/or your local council.
